Ten-time Grammy Award winners The Manhattan Transfer celebrate 40 years of making hits like “Boy from New York City,” “Twilight Zone/Twilight Tone,” “Route 66,” and “Birdland.” One of the defining pop-jazz vocal groups of the modern era, the long-standing lineup features Jersey Shore native Tim Hauser (a graduate of St. Rose High School in Belmar), Alan Paul, Janis Siegel and Cheryl Bentyne. Their unmistakable tight vocal harmonies are so versatile, their Grammy Awards span the Jazz Vocal, Pop Vocal, Jazz Fusion, Contemporary Jazz and Vocal Arrangement categories. Their ’85 album Vocalese received an astounding 12 nominations, second only to Michael Jackson’s Thriller at the time. One of their ‘81 Grammies came for their recording of the Count Basie Orchestra standard, “Until I Met You (Corner Pocket).”
