Based on the legendary Carnegie Hall “From Spirituals to Swing” concerts produced by John Hammond in the 1930s, “Spirituals to Funk” features an integrated show that explores the connections between jazz, blues, and gospel. Dr. John and the Blind Boys of Alabama's partnership builds on a legacy that began with Dr. John’s appearance on the Blind Boys’ Grammy® Award-winning CD Down in New Orleans, and continues with the Blind Boys’ appearance on Dr. John’s upcoming CD celebrating Louis Armstrong’s 100th birthday.
