About
The Hot Club of Philadelphia, an acoustic quartet founded in 2001 by guitarist Barry Wahrhaftig, plays and preserves the music of Django Reinhardt often referred to as ”Gypsy Jazz,” while adding its own personal touches to American favorites, hot jazz and other styles. Taking his cue from the style of the 1934 Quartet of the Hot Club of Paris, Barry plays an AJL guitar built to the specs of the original Selmer oval-hole "Manouche" guitars made in France in the 1930s. The group refers to its music as “just Hot Swing, played Sweet & Lowdown!”
